Ol Jogi

I named this piece after Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia county, Kenya, which was the location of a real life giraffe cow who I helped to treat back in 2016 when I was a vet student. She had been trying to deliver her calf for 3 days to no avail, and sadly the calf did not survive. Thanks to the expertise of the Kenya Wildlife Service we were able to immobilise her and help deliver her calf, so that she at least would survive.

When I look at this portrait I remember the bristly coat of that giraffe, and the immense strength of her neck muscles under my hands as we held her. 50% of profits from the sale of prints will be donated to the Giraffe Conservation Fund.
